Two officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service were injured in a shooting incident on Friday night in the Sabon Iddo area of Abuja, following a case of mistaken identity.

The officers, identified as Oyomide Zion and Hakeem Mashood, were reportedly on routine movement around 10:00 p.m. when they were fired upon by a man known as Pastor Darlington, who is said to have mistaken them for armed robbers.

Darlington is now on the run, according to security analyst Zagozola Makama.

Police sources stated that at approximately 11:40 p.m., the Divisional Police Officer of Iddo Division received a distress call and immediately dispatched patrol units to the location.
Upon reaching the scene, another immigration officer, Uduk James, informed responding officers that two of his colleagues had sustained gunshot wounds.

The injured men were swiftly transported to the Nigerian Air Force Base Hospital in Abuja, where they are currently being treated.
Authorities have since launched a manhunt for the suspected shooter, identified as Pastor Darlington, with police intensifying efforts to locate and apprehend him
