As the world marks Earth Day 2025, Princess Chinwe Nnabuife, member representing Orumba North/South Federal Constituency of Anambra State at the Federal House of Representatives, has issued a passionate call to action toward restoring the earth’s natural resources and reclaiming the future.

Earth Day 2025 falls on Tuesday, April 22, marking the 55th anniversary of the global environmental movement. With the theme Our Power, Our Planet, this year’s campaign urges people to push for renewable energy and clean electricity by 2030.

Speaking on environmental crisis in Anambra State, Hon. Nnabuife highlighted the devastating impact of gully erosion in her constituency, where farmlands have been destroyed, roads have been devoured, and thousands of people have been displaced. She noted that over 160 out of 179 communities in Anambra State are grappling with this environmental crisis, with over 100,000 residents displaced and critical infrastructure destroyed.

The Adaejiejemba of Orumba however praised the visionary leadership of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, who has made unprecedented strides in environmental renewal through the creation of the Anambra State Erosion, Watershed and Climate Change Agency (ANSEWCCA). She expressed her support for his re-election, citing his emphasis on youth empowerment, agriculture, health, and security as transformative for the state.

The lawmaker therefore called on traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, and every resident of Orumba and Anambra State to rise with one voice and one purpose to address the environmental challenges facing the region. She urged people to plant trees, raise awareness, and build hope to restore the lands and reclaim the future.

Reaffirming her unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship, sustainable development, and community-driven transformation, Princess Chinwe Nnabuife however emphasized the importance of collective action to protect the earth and preserve its natural resources for future generations.
