Suspected bandits attacked the home of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) pastor Austin Ifeji in the early hours of Monday, February 17, killing his son and abducting his wife in Gwagwalada, a Mararaba community near Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

According to reports, the heavily armed assailants stormed the residence, inflicting machete wounds on Pastor Ifeji, who managed to escape. His son, however, was shot and later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Residents disclosed that the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N30 million for the release of the pastor’s wife.

“The boy is the only son of his parents as he has four other females. He did not like how they were manhandling his mother and confronted the kidnappers and they shot him,” the source said.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the police in Nasarawa, Rahman Nansel said the command is yet to be briefed on the matter.
