The Nigeria Police Force on Thursday celebrated a pivotal moment as Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun officially decorated six newly appointed Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs) and one Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).

This ceremony came on the heels of the retirement of six senior DIGs on March 3, 2025, who concluded their service after dedicating 35 years to the Force.

According to a statement by Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the officers decorated during the event include DIG Sadiq Idiris Abubakar, former Commandant of the Police Academy in Wudil, Kano; DIG Benjamin Nebolisa Okolo, who previously served as AIG in charge of the ICT Department at Force Headquarters, Abuja; DIG Williams Adebowale, former Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos; DIG Bzigu Yakubu Kwazi Bali, previously AIG at the FCID Annex in Enugu; DIG Idegwu Basil Ukuoma, who served as AIG of Zone 14, Katsina; and DIG Adebola Ayinde Hamzat, former AIG of Zone 16, Yenagoa.

Also promoted and decorated was AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu, who transitioned from his role as Commissioner of Police in Enugu State to his new position as Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

During the decoration ceremony, IGP Egbetokun congratulated the officers and underscored the need to uphold core values such as integrity, professionalism, and dedicated service to the nation.

The IGP encouraged the officers to lead with distinction, inspire confidence among their colleagues, and foster trust with the public they are committed to protecting. He expressed confidence in their leadership capabilities, emphasizing their potential to contribute meaningfully to the growth and efficiency of the Force
