Kwankwaso, Leader of NNPP

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and former Kano State Governor, has announced the formation of a formidable coalition aimed at wresting power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

In a strongly worded press statement, Kwankwaso described the APC as a “callous” party that has failed Nigerians, reaffirming his refusal to rejoin its ranks despite personal appeals from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Kwankwaso disclosed that Tinubu had made multiple overtures, including direct phone calls and messages through mutual contacts, urging him to return to the APC—a party Kwankwaso helped establish but left due to its “departure from principle and justice.”

Quoting Tinubu, Kwankwaso revealed the president’s promise that “all terms will be fulfilled; all conditions will be like pupils in your hands.” However, the former governor unequivocally rejected the offer, stating, “I would rather quit politics entirely than return to the APC, a party that has inflicted immense hardship on Nigerians.”

Citing the APC’s failure to tackle insecurity, hunger, youth unemployment, economic decay, and corruption under both Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari, Kwankwaso accused the party of prioritizing personal interests and propaganda over governance.

The APC has lost moral ground and historical relevance in rescuing Nigeria from its many woes,” he declared, emphasizing that his refusal was driven by “principle, patriotism, and love” for Nigeria’s struggling citizens

This coalition will transcend ethnicity, religion, and regional divides, uniting Nigerians—especially the youth—to “peacefully and democratically” end the Tinubu administration through the ballot box

Looking toward 2027, Kwankwaso revealed he is collaborating with like-minded patriots to build a “broad-based political movement” to challenge the APC’s dominance.

This coalition, he said, will transcend ethnicity, religion, and regional divides, uniting Nigerians—especially the youth—to “peacefully and democratically” end the Tinubu administration through the ballot box. “This movement will not just be about winning elections. It will be about uprooting the politics of deception and replacing it with one of hope, vision, and action,” he stated.

Kwankwaso warned the APC that Nigerians, grappling with real suffering, are watching and will deliver a decisive verdict in 2027. “No amount of political maneuvering, propaganda, or elite bargains will stop the will of the people when the time comes,” he asserted.

He called on citizens who value justice, equity, and competent leadership to join the coalition, with a goal not only to defeat the APC but to “rebuild Nigeria from the ruins it has been plunged into by years of failed leadership.”

“No amount of political maneuvering, propaganda, or elite bargains will stop the will of the people when the time comes,”

Addressing Tinubu and his allies directly, Kwankwaso expressed gratitude for their overtures but reiterated his unwavering loyalty to Nigeria over any political party. “I remain committed to the cause of a better, stronger, and united Nigeria,” he concluded.

The statement, authored by Hon. Ibrahim Rabiu, Senior Special Reporter to the Kano State Governor on Transportation, and signed by Kwankwaso, has ignited political discourse across the country.

As Nigeria approaches the 2027 elections, Kwankwaso’s call for a united front against the APC signals a potential realignment of forces in the nation’s turbulent political arena.
