The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has announced that preparations are underway to launch a theatre command named ‘Operation Fansan Yamma’ in the North West.
This initiative aims to address the challenges of banditry, kidnapping, and cattle rustling in the region.
During his official visit to the North-West Zone, the Minister said the establishment of a Command and Control Centre is a crucial step in addressing the issue of banditry.
He also highlighted the government’s collaborative efforts with neighbouring countries, particularly Niger Republic, to combat terrorism and arms trafficking.
Meanwjile, Governor Uba Sani said the importance of regional collaboration to tackle insecurity, calling for the establishment of a Command and Control Centre to coordinate joint efforts against criminal elements in the region.
He expressed gratitude for the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing the multidimensional challenges of insecurity confronting the North-West Zone.
The governor expressed optimism that the upcoming “Operation Fansan Yamma” would create an enabling environment for investments and economic growth in the zone.
He also suggested the reassignment of Operation Safe Haven in Southern Kaduna to 1 Division in Kaduna for operational convenience and commended progress on setting up Operation Safe Corridor (North-West).
