The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Ari Mohammed Ali as Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG).
He succeeds DIG Ade Ayuba, who recently retired from service.
Ali, who previously served as the AIG in charge of Zone One, Kano, hails from Nasarawa State in the North Central region, maintaining representation for the area from which the retired DIG Ayuba hailed.
During the emergency management meeting where the appointment was approved, PSC Chairman, retired DIG Hashimu Argungu, emphasized the need for professionalism and a zero-tolerance approach to corruption in the police force.
Argungu highlighted the Commission’s vision of a professional and accountable police force, one that serves as a source of pride for Nigerians.
“The new PSC is committed to building a police force free of corruption but filled with determination to serve the people,” Argungu stated.
He added that the Commission will continue collaborating with the police to fulfill its mission of safeguarding lives, protecting property, and combating crime.
The announcement, conveyed in a statement by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations for the PSC, also included a congratulatory message to DIG Ari Mohammed Ali. Argungu urged the new DIG to deliver his best in service to the nation.
