Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State has been plunged into tension following a deadly early morning attack by gunmen.
The assault, which occurred around 7:30 am in the Ebem and Asaga areas, reportedly resulted in the deaths of several police officers.
Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene as residents fled the area in fear, leaving the usually bustling neighborhoods deserted.
This latest violence comes just two days after another attack on police officers in the state. On Sunday, gunmen ambushed a convoy in Umuahia, targeting officers assigned to Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, a member of the House of Representatives.
That ambush claimed the life of one officer, left another injured, and saw the driver narrowly escape.
As of now, the Abia State Police Command has not issued a statement regarding the Ohafia attack, leaving many residents anxious and seeking clarity.
