Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has approved the immediate suspension of the State Commissioner of Special Duties, Auwalu Sankara, “pending investigation into allegations made by the Kano State Hisbah.”
This is contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government(SSG), Bala Ibrahim.
“The decision comes in the light of recent claims that necessitate a thorough examination to ensure transparency and uphold the integrity of the State Administration,” Ibrahim said.
The statement which was distributed to newsmen by the Public Relations Officer of the SSG’s Office,Ismail Ibrahim Dutse, emphasized the commitment to accountability and adherence to ethical standards in governance by Governor Namadi.
“The suspension is a precautionary measure intended to facilitate a fair investigation.
“We take all allegations seriously and are dedicated to upholding the trust of Jigawa citizens in the government,”the statement added.
Recall that the Kano State Hisbah Board had arrested and detained Sankara for allegedly commiting adultery with a housewife in an uncompleted building located in the state capital.
The board’s Director-General, Dr Abba Sufi, who confirmed the report, said the arrest was made possible through an intelligence tracking that followed complaints about the commissioner’s “nefarious acts with the married woman by her husband’s younger brother.”
