Wife of Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese and President, Women Ministry, Mrs Chinyere Ezeofor on Friday urged women in the diocese to take God’s great commission of soul winning seriously.
She said neglecting such commandments could amount to partnering with Satan, his demons and the world of darkness to trample down Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Mrs Ezeofor spoke while delivering her Presidential Address during the 20th Aguata Diocesan Women Conference at St. Luke’s Parish, Isulo, themed, “God’s Great Task for the Church 2: The Great Commission”.
She said, “The church has been commanded to go. The great commission mandate must be carried out. We should go where ever we find ourselves is the mission field.
“However we should begin from our homes and families, then go to our neighborhood, workplaces, markets, hospitals, factories and all.
“Parents and guardians should become disciple-makers first in their homes and families, transmitting what they have become into their children through living examplary lives and purposeful trainings.
“We should bring these children up in the training and admonition of the Lord. To achieve these, we need to be consecrated in our personal and individual lives.”
While decrying Nigeria’s growing socio-economic situation and prevalent hunger confronting the masses amidst abundant resources, Ezeofor called for continued prayers for God’s restoration of the nation back to her fallen state.
She said, “A land blessed by God with abundant milk and honey, where others come to feed full and well, yet her inhabitants are lavishing in hunger and difficulty.
“Economic situation in the nation is biting hard on many families, bringing hunger, disease and sickness.
“There are lots of school drop-outs everywhere, save in the states like Anambra where Basic and Junior Secondary Education is free.
“However, inasmuch as there is free education at these levels, there’s no free feeding. A lot of homes are in grievous agony. No wonder many adults break down, slump and die. Acute hunger is dealing with lots of homes.
“Business are collapsing because of inability to meet up with the galloping increase in price of goods. We bemoan the rate of corruption in almost every sphere of life.
“Insecurity in Nigeria is getting out of hand. Kidnapping, banditry, assassination, bloodshed of every form. There’s fear within and without.
“As we look inwards, may we not be found also as part of the problem of Nigeria. If we are fine, the church is fine, the nation would be fine.”
The bishop’s wife however commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for “bringing solution to many difficult situations” in the state so far, urging him to address other challenges in the state, including the erosion menace in the area.
“Your attack on idol worship with devilish practices trying to destroy our youths mostly is commendable. The “oso Soludo” has brought sanity to almost all the communities in the state.
