From Ijeoma John, Nnewi.

The Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ANSAA) has updated the general public on political campaign permit for the November, 8 governorship election.

The Managing Director/ CEO of Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ANSAA), Tony Odili Ujubuonu during a press briefing held on Tuesday, August 5,2025 at the agency’s headquarters in Awka said it was very crucial to update the people of Anambra State on the implementation of the Out-of-Home Promotion and Visual Campaign Guidelines issued in June for political party participating in the 2025 Anambra State gubernatorial election.

He said the guidelines were designed to ensure orderliness, fairness and aesthetic responsibility throughout the electioneering period.

According to ANSAA, Five out of the sixteen registered political parties have completely complied with the guidelines by paying the stipulated campaign fee of fifty million naira and have been granted campaign permit to advertise using billboards, banners, branded vehicles, and other outdoor media accross the state.

Among the registered political parties were: the Young Progressive Party(YPP) June 24,2025, African Democratic Congress(ADC) June 26,2025,Labour Party June 27,2025, Action Alliance (AA) June 27,2025, and All
Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) July 2,2025.

ANSAA acknowledged that other political parties have opted to run their campaigns using other platforms such as social media, radio, television and other media platforms.

The agency said the approach remained acceptable, provided it does not violate the Out- of Home Advertising Laws in Anambra State.

It must noted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has violated the law by refusing to obtain the mandatory campaign permit, despite receiving multiple demand notices and a legal reminder.

The party, according to ANSAA went ahead to erect unauthorized posters and banners, mount unapproved billboards, brand campaign vehicles without registration and to distribute promotional materials without clearance.

Recall that at Nri,Aniocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, APC resorted to violence to obstruct an ANSAA offical team on lawful assignment, after the party had been issued two demand notices within a period of two months and with a two- week compliance window, followed by a legal reminder with additional one- week timeline, all were ignored.

According to ANSAA, the assault of their staff at Nri has formally been reported to the Nigeria Police, adding that it would continue to take all lawful steps necessary to uphold the integrity of their regulatory mandate.

The agency further urged the general public to disregard the disinformation, and false narratives been spread by the party. However, the Assistant General Manager and the Chief Enforcement officer, Engr. Chika Ngobili, who led the operation said they were manhandled, claiming that they have evidence to prove it.
