The Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, Yusuf Tugar, has been called upon by the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Assembly Forum (ASAF) to contest the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State.
The APC State Assembly Forum noted that the people of Bauchi, a North Central state, deserve to benefit from the extensive administrative experience of the former ambassador, describing him as the only person capable of rescuing the state from the current poor governance that has hindered its development.
Speaking at the end of its meeting in the state capital, former Director General of the forum, Ambassador Fubara Dagogo, highlighted the gains Bauchi stands to achieve with Tugar at its helm. He noted that the former House of Representatives Chairman on Appropriation and member of the Downstream Committee has garnered substantial experience both as a legislator and as an administrator. Dagogo added that Tugar’s wealth of experience in public service and the business sector uniquely positions him to elevate Bauchi State from its current condition.
Ambassador Dagogo emphasized that Bauchi needs an experienced and selfless leader as governor, urging citizens not to miss this great opportunity to secure the services of the Foreign Affairs Minister in 2027.
ASAF also appealed to Tugar to consider the call to serve his state, acknowledging that while he is currently occupied with the critical task of building Nigeria’s image and relationships internationally, which have improved significantly under his leadership, he should not overlook the call to help his home state. The forum stated that Bauchi is in dire need of a leader with his capacity to lift it out of its current challenges.
“We at ASAF are making a passionate appeal to Ambassador Yusuf Tugar to step forward and liberate Bauchi State. We believe that the state cannot afford to lose the expertise of a proven leader like the current Foreign Affairs Minister while it suffers in its present state,” the forum declared.
“Ambassador Tugar is the right man to rescue Bauchi State. Our careful study shows that he has made significant contributions even in his private capacity to alleviate hardship among his people. We can only imagine the impact he would have as governor.”
The people of Bauchi, ASAF asserted, believe that with his wealth of experience in public service, his reputation as a respected legislator, his standing as a captain of industry, and his high-ranking diplomatic role as Minister of Foreign Affairs, there is no one better suited to lead Bauchi out of its current state than Ambassador Yusuf Tugar,” ASAF stated.
