By Ekunkonye Junior Abuja

A concerned citizen, Ikenna Chidoka, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of an Abuja – based Ai submission services, the Tsboi Nigeria Ltd, has penned an open letter to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), acknowledging the impressive road construction and pedestrians walkways across the capital city while highlighting pressing issues that detract from its livability.

In the letter, Chidoka praises the Minister’s efforts in transforming Abuja’s infrastructure, citing his extensive experience traveling to over 80 cities worldwide. However, he expresses concern about the disconnect between the administration and the people, emphasizing the need for effective governance.

Among the areas of concern which he pointed out for immediate attention are
environmental sanitation and traffick management. He describes Abuja’s environmental state as being very poor, suggesting that private companies could efficiently manage waste collection and recycling with a clear framework. But on the area of traffic management, he criticizes the lack of discipline on the roads, where traffic rules are often disregarded, even by top officials and VIPs.

Chidoka also expresses dismay at the state of Wuse General Hospital, highlighting the need for basic maintenance and cleanliness.

He therefore urges the Minister to address these issues, emphasizing that a city’s success goes beyond infrastructure development. He suggests that Abuja has the potential to become a major hub for meetings, incentives, conferences, and events (MICE) if it adopts global best practices in urban living.

The open letter concludes by encouraging the Minister to create a capital city that truly works for everyone, drawing attention to the importance of effective governance and citizen well-being.
