Davido, family visit Tinubu in Lagos, declare loyalty to APC

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his Lagos residence on Tuesday, accompanied by key members of his family.

Joining him were his billionaire father, Chief Adedeji Adeleke, and his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State. The high-profile visit comes shortly after Davido’s earlier engagement at the Aso Villa in Abuja, where he met with the president alongside celebrity businessman Cubana Chief Priest and music executive Ubi Franklin.

During the Abuja meeting, Davido introduced his companions to President Tinubu as “loyal members” of the All Progressives Congress (APC) — a declaration that has stirred political conversations, especially given his uncle’s affiliation with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“They are both your members, sir. They are APC,” Davido said.

Meanwhile, Ubi Franklin used the moment to highlight his role in the APC’s 2023 campaign. “I travelled to 15 states with you, sir,” he recalled.

Tinubu, in response, said, “Very good. We succeeded and made it to the presidency.”

Cubana Chief Priest predicted another victory. “We will succeed again in 2027,” he said.

The Lagos visit on Tuesday adds to Davido’s continued engagement with Nigeria’s political class. It followed earlier courtesy visits by the singer and his entourage to other key government figures, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and Vice President Kashim Shettima
