The National Working Committee NWC, of the ruling All Progressives Congress?APC) has removed Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state as chairman of the party’s governorshiip election committee for Edo state, which is billed to be completed on Thursday
Recall that Governor Uzodimma had last Saturday conducted a parallel primary where he declared House of Representatives member Hon. Denis Idahosa as winner of the APC ticket for the September 21 governorshiip election in Edo state.
Two other primary elections were also conducted by other APC stakeholders, leading to the emergence of two other candidates , laying claims to the same ticket.
The NWC of APC however at an emergency meeting on Tuesday declared the election inconclusive, and fixed Thursday for the completion. The party however came heavy on the Imo state governor who is also the Chairman of APC Governors Forum as they have appointed cross Rivers state governor, Bassey Otu, to replace him as Chairman of the primary election committee.
Recall that three leading aspirants, Osagie Ize -Iyamu Lucky Imasuen had earlier petitioned president Bola Tinubu, demanding for the removal of Governor Hope Uzodimma from the primary election committee
They argued that based on the manner he handled last Saturday’s inconclusive election, he lacks the integrity to supritend the conduct of Thursday’s election
