A fire incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, March 10, 2025, at the premises of Geometric Power, the operator of Aba Power, Nigeria’s newest electricity distribution company (DisCo).
According to a statement from Geometric Power Management, the fire broke out in a temporary building within the Osisioma Industrial Layout in Aba, Abia State.
The affected structure, previously used by Group 5—a now-defunct South African electricity firm—had been largely unused for over 12 years.
While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, Geometric Power staff were able to contain the flames before the Abia State Fire Service arrived to fully extinguish it. Fortunately, no casualties or significant damage to critical infrastructure were reported.
