The match which ended with the home team beating the Lagos branch 3-0 had in attendance, a great figure in Nnewi and Anambra 2025 Governorship aspirant under Labour Party , Chief Dr George Moghalu, who happened to be the sponsor of the tournament, Nnewi Youth Forum President, Mr Ejim Ucheagwu, among others.

Speaking, Mr Ejim Ucheagwu explained that the tournament was tagged harmony cup because of the aim to strengthen existing relationships among the youths both home and abroad.

Mr Ucheagwu said as the name implies that the event was meant to allow the youths to interact, network and for people to meet themselves especially those who had seen or not seen one another for a very long time.

He said that the event was being sponsored by Chief Dr George Moghalu, adding that the prize money for the tournament was N2 million.

He revealed that a similar sporting event would be coming up on January 5, 2025 called Unity Cup for the same purpose of promoting unity and cordial relationship among Nnewi people, especially the young ones.

Addressing the participants, Chief Dr Moghalu said the entire youths are the winners as the aim was to bring the youths together.

“We are all winners. You call it harmony cup. What we are doing is to create an opportunity that will bring us together. It’s good for brothers to be together.

“I commend the youth leaders. They are doing wonderfully well because it’s not easy even at this level.

“Count on me for any help for the progress of the youths and Nnewi generally. I’m always ready to support you. Call me anytime, I will pick your call, “Chief Moghalu promised.
