A devastating incident struck the Okrika community in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State in the early hours of Monday, as a high-tension power cable snapped, killing at least six people.

According to eyewitnesses, the live cable fell onto a residential building, sparking an inferno that quickly engulfed the structure. In addition to the lives lost, the fire destroyed the building and properties estimated to be worth millions of naira.
