The Igbo Cultural and Development group, The Igbo Union, also known as Nzuko Ndi-Igbo has commended the untiring efforts being made by Hon Obi Aguocha, member representing Ikwuano, Umuahia North, Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, in the drive to effect the release of Nnamdi Kanu from DSS detention.
The group also lend its voice on the call for the Federal Government to release Kanu through a political solution, instead of the current judicial path, and commended President Bola Tinubu, for what it descried as the ample disposition his ample disposition in welcoming laudable ideas from notable Igbo sons and daughters in their quest to see that Nnamdi Kanu will granted freedom soon., especially the current move Honorable Aguocha using the National Assembly, to see free Kanu.
The Igbo group position was contend in a press statement signed by its president Mr Elias Odoemena and made available to journalists in Abuja, yesterday.
According the group “ We are very much aware of the efforts being put in place by Hon Aguocha to see that our son, Nnamdi Kanu regain his freedom through an instrumentality of dialogue and negotiations with other stakeholders in the country, instead of the current legal process which have taken too long to achieve.
“We are therefore hopeful that such laudable efforts will yield fruits sooner than expected, as we all know that we have a listening president in President Bola Tinubu, who is the father of the nation, and knows that the Igbo nation needs Nnamdi Kanu to be released so that peace and order would be restored in our region.
“Our group has been in the forefront of reminding our President to listen to calls that been earlier by our departed leaders in the name of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, who was the former President of Ohanaeze Nd’Igbo Worldwide, and Chief Mbazurike Amaechi who, during their life time, had called on Presidents Muhammadu Buahri and Bola Tinubu to released Kanu to them, as a sign of reconciliation with the people of the southeast.”
The statement praised President Tinubu and Vice President for various appointments so far given to Igbo sons and daughters, and urged for deeper synergy between the federal government and Igbo nation, where the people of the area will fell less of being maginalised in the scheme of things in the country.
The group therefore urged President Tinubu embrace the efforts being made by Hon Aguocha and other notable Igbo leaders in the country to see that Nnamdi Kanu regains his freedom soon, so that the people of the southeast will see such gesture as a Christmas gift to the zone.
