Tragedy occured at AYA area of Asokoro in Abuja on Wednesday, when a suspected bandit stapped a solider to death, in what many eye witnesses within the scene of the incident described as bizarre.

According to some eye witnesses, the soldier, who was said to had came to AYA in the early evening of Wednesday to repair his shoes, went into an altercation with the suspect as a result of a misunderstanding that later resulted in a fight between the two.

” I can’t really say for sure what started their querell. But what I saw was when the two started exchanging blows. Before we knew it, the Hausa man brought out a knife from his clothes and stabbed the solider..

” Immediately he stabbed him, and seeing that the solder was wriggling in his own pool of blood and shouting for help, he fled the area through the Mosque”.

When our reporter visited the scene of the incident at AYA, soldiers were seen mounting search, with vehicle queues stretching up to a kilometer.

A passenger who was waiting to board a vehicle to Mararaba said that she had waited for three hours, still no vehicle to convey her to her destination.

Our reporter also observed that operatives of Department of State Security also joined the soliders in the search of the culprit.

“They (the security personnel) are still searching for the killer of the soldier around all the AYA vicinity including the Mosque where the culprit first escaped from.,” another witness told Disclosure News.

Attempt to speak with any of the security personnel at the scene of the incident proved abortive.
