Leadership Newspaper Editor loses father

The late Pa Ekele

Death has occured of Pa Simon Ekele Unwanaji, the father of the Editor of Leadership Newspaper, Peter Ekele Agbo.

The death was announced in a statement released by the family on Monday.

“It is with deep sadness, but gratitude to God Almighty, that we announce the passing of Pa Simon Ekele Unwanaji, which occured on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

“He died after a brief illness at the age of 80”, according to a statement by Peter Agbo Ekele on behalf of the family.

Pa Simon, the statement said, is a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.

The deceased was born on September 3, 1944, in Idiri Okpoga, Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State.

He was a devout Christian who lived for the love of God and what was just. He was a role model to many in his community and beyond.

He is survived by his wife, six children, and 21 grandchildren, among whom is the Editor of LEADERSHIP, Peter Agbo Ekele, who will all miss him dearly.

His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched, the statement said.

“Pa Simon will be laid to rest on December 13, 2024, in his hometown, Idiri Okpoga.

“The family requests privacy during this difficult time. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, and the community,” the statement said.
