All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the local government elections held across Benue State, securing all 23 chairmanship positions.
This announcement was made on Sunday by the Chairman of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), Mr. Richard Tombowua.
In addition to the chairmanship seats, the APC also claimed all 276 councillorship positions, following elections in the state’s 5,102 polling units, spread across 276 council wards in the 23 local government areas.
Tombowua revealed that while eight political parties were slated to participate, only five — APC, APGA, Labour Party (LP), PDP, and SDP — actively contested the polls.
Despite the competition, APC emerged as the dominant force across all local government areas.
“There is no local government where any candidate was returned unopposed; each election was keenly contested, both at the chairmanship and councillorship levels,” Tombowua stated.
The results were said to have been compiled and confirmed by the electoral officers representing each of the 23 local governments
