The Mayor of Idemili North Local Government Area, Hon. Stanley Nkwoka ( Ochendo Idemili) has signed into law an Anti-Cultism By-Laws for Idemili North LGA charging everyone to feel free to report any trouble maker who may want to perpetrate Cultism, touting and land grabbing henceforth.

Speaking during a press briefing held at the Idemili North Secretariat, Ogidi, Hon Stanley Nkwoka maintained that there was no room for idleness in Idemili North tasking every unemployed youth to register for 1 Youth 2 skills empowerment scheme established by Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State.

According to Nkwoka, there has been this challenge of Cultism in Anambra not just in Idemili North. Sometimes last month there was a mass shooting resulting to deaths ,it was not good at all. After the incident, I called a security meeting involving all the Traditional Rulers,Town Union and Youth Leaders with other stakeholders .

“We gathered and decided to come up with a by law in Idemili North to check mate Cultism since the state has its own law. Our target is not to tell anybody not to join cult but do it in the secret since it is a secret cult. Once you do it in the open you are violating the law.

“There is no gain in secret cult so take it elsewhere. Here in Idemili North we want peace. We came up with a Law, adopted the model, the Congress of Councillors judiciously passed the law and we have to sign it to become an operational law. Another part of it, is setting up a body that will partner with the police and other security agencies to enforce this law and make it active. I might not be the Mayor forever but I will do my best to make here a better place.

“I enjoin all Youth leaders, youths to witness this. It is a symbolic law in Idemili North. I look forward that this will help us curb Cultism, land grabbing and touting. I believe that from today on people perpetrating this will go into hiding in Idemili North.

I call on the Youths to stay at alert to protect your LGA, towns, Polling units because people should not come from outside to cause problems here. Be free to report or call on us if there is any trouble maker within your area. We have a security architecture to intervene,” said Nkwoka.

Nkwoka also urged citizens to support the Solution Administration under Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo by voting for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the upcoming November 8 elections saying that the reward for good works is more work.

Earlier, the Leader of the Idemili North Legislative Council, Hon. Samuel Anikpe(Oyinatumba ) formally presented the by-law document to the Mayor saying that they were doing everything possible to make sure Governor Chukwuma Soludo is returned come November 8, 2025. “The Legislative council of Idemili North enacted a bill which has been transmitted to the Mayor for his assent to prohibit secret Cultism and similar activities and to provide for related matters. We are simply domesticating the Home land security laws of His Excellency in Idemili North”.

Hon. Paul Okoye, Secretary of Idemili North Local Government, commended Mayor Nkwoka’s visionary leadership and assured the public that the council’s administration is fully prepared to implement and enforce the new law in the most populated LGA in Anambra State.

Moreover, ASTUC Youth President, Hon Ken Okoli , Youth Mayor of Idemili North, was also in the press briefing to identify with the Mayor of Idemili North, Hon Stanley Nkwoka Ochendo Idemili,to have him sign up the OYes campaign which demonstrates that Mr. Governor is a super role model to Youths. “Every young person from this LGA living within Idemili North or diaspora is expected to sign up that you are supporting Mr Governor. We are expecting all the Youths from Idemili North to ensure that on November 8, 2025, that they return and participate in voting and protecting the votes because votes must count this time around”.
