Nigeria’s pursuit of digital development received a significant endorsement from technology company, Globacom, which has committed its full support to the Nigerian Communications Commission’s (NCC) high-level business roundtable.

The event which commenced on Monday at the NCC Headquarters in Abuja is focused on Broadband Investment and Protection of Critical Information Infrastructure. Themed “Right of Way and Protection of Broadband Infrastructure – The Road to Success in Broadband Investment and Connectivity”, the roundtable serves as a crucial platform that unites key stakeholders—including federal and state governments, the private sector, telecom operators, and regulatory bodies—to develop actionable strategies. The goal is to rapidly expand Nigeria’s broadband coverage and fortify the security of its vital communication infrastructure.

Globacom’s sponsorship and active involvement underscore its continued leadership in shaping the nation’s digital landscape. The company is providing logistical and technical support for the two-day event, demonstrating a deep commitment to fostering a connected, inclusive, and secure digital ecosystem.

L-R: Representative of Jigawa State Governor, Managing Director/CEO NASIDA Nasarawa Investment and Development Agency, Ibrahim Abdullahi; Executive Vice Chairman/CEO Nigerian Communication Commission(NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida and Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, during the Business Roundtable on Improving Investments in Broadband Connectivity and Safeguarding Critical National Information Infrastructure held in Abuja, Wednesday.

Industry analysts view this forum as vital for harmonizing public and private sector interests to meet Nigeria’s ambitious broadband targets, enhance policy coherence, and bridge existing digital divides, particularly in underserved and rural areas.

Globacom’s participation offers a strategic opportunity to directly influence policy, especially concerning Right of Way (RoW) challenges, incentives for infrastructure investment, and long-term regulatory frameworks essential for broadband expansion. By actively contributing to these discussions, the company aims to accelerate the nationwide deployment of high-speed internet while ensuring robust safeguards for critical communication assets.

The Company sees the roundtable as a chance to strengthen public-private partnerships, explore innovative funding models, and champion equitable digital access. This aligns with its enduring commitment to digital inclusion, empowering millions of Nigerians with affordable and reliable connectivity.

“We believe that digital transformation must be inclusive and secure. Our participation in this roundtable is a continuation of our mission to support national development through technology. A resilient broadband infrastructure is critical to Nigeria’s economic growth and global competitiveness”, Globacom stated.

Furthermore, Globacom’s input into the Critical National Information Infrastructure Protection Plan (CNIIPP) is set to help forge a coordinated national framework for telecom security. This will effectively strengthen Nigeria’s defenses against cyber threats and infrastructure sabotage.

As the roundtable progresses, Globacom reaffirms its role not merely as a telecoms provider but as a trusted partner in the country’s journey toward a fully digitized, economically empowered, and secure future.
