As Nigeria marks her 64th independent, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA), Engr. Aliyu Tukur Tahir, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity and perseverance for a stronger nation.
Engr. Tahir made this call in a statement by NEMSA Head of Communication and Protocol Unit, Ama Umoren, while congratulating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice-President Senator Kashim Shettima, Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu and the entire nation on the occasion of her 64th Independence Anniversary celebration.
The MD who also doubles as Chief Electrical Inspector of the Federation, highlighted the importance of embracing the values of patience, sacrifice, and faith which are the legacy of the nation’s forefathers and the bedrock for creating a safe and prosperous country.
Reflecting on its journey of Nigeria’s independence, marked by both achievements and challenges, NEMSA Boss called for a collective effort, a commitment to justice, fairness, and mutual support and ensuring that the diverse tapestry of languages, cultures, and religions are strengthened in building a stronger nation rather than divides.
“These values were; patience, sacrifice, piety, faith in God, justice and fairness, support for one another, and persistent reliance on the Creator in all areas of their daily lives.
“It has been 64 years since our nation got her independence. The grace that has sustained us as a nation has proven without doubt, the love God has for us. The fact that we have survived and lived with the concept of “Unity in diversity” with diverse language, culture and religion, is a proof that we have truly grown as a nation and a people.
“Indeed, there are some setbacks; however, one cannot deny the fact that even the most powerful nations have these setbacks.
“It is therefore important that we take a collective effort in rebuilding our dear nation by striving to make our country a better and safe place by following the values and principles taught by our fathers”, he said.
While acknowledging the unflinching support to the Nigerian Electricity Management Services by the President and Minister of Power, NEMSA helmsman assured Nigerians of the Agency’s determination to discharge its mandate which includes; the enforcement of Technical Standards and Regulations, Technical Inspection, Testing and Certification of all categories of electrical installations, electricity meters and instruments to ensure an efficient production and delivery of safe, reliable and sustainable electricity power supply and guarantee safety of lives and property in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) and allied industries in the country.
