Nigeria Guild of Editors elects new leadership

The 2025 Biennial Convention of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) on Friday in Enugu elected new officers to run the affairs of the Guild for the next two years.

During the election which held at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, the Editors re-elected Mr Eze Anaba, the Editor-In-Chief of Vanguard Newspaper, for a second term.

Anaba, who was the incumbent President of the union, was returned unopposed.

Also elected at the convention was the Managing Director of The Sun newspaper, Onuoha Ukoh, who got the post of General Secretary, polling 218 votes to defeat Wole Sogunle and Qasim Akinreti, who got 45 and 30 votes respectively.

For the post of Deputy President, Sabastine Abu polled 175 votes to defeat Mohammed Sunusi Jubrin who got 110 votes.

Others elected at the event included Kabir Alabi,Hamza Idris and Sheddy Ozoene, whom got posts of Vice Presidents.

For the post of Treasurer, Mr. Iyobosa Uwugiaren was elected, Gabriel Fulajimi Akinadewo Got the post of Assistant Secretary, and Charles Kalu was returned as Publicity Secretary.

Members elected into the Standing Committee from the various zones in country were: Umoru Ibrahim , Rose Moses, Ejiro Umukoro, Olabisi Deji-Folutile, Juliet Bumah, Paulyn Ugbodaga, Chinedu Max Egere and Ikpong Essien-Udoh.

The convention which was declared open by the Enugu State Governor,Dr. Peter Mbah,drew about 400 editors from all parts of country.

It was also graced by several renowned media veterans, among whom were the founder of Channels Television, Dr. John Momoh, former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Segun Osoba, ex-NDDC Chairman, Chief Onyeama Ugochukwu, and former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former President Muhammadu Buhari, Femi Adesina
