Nigeria Is Drifting And Leadership Is Missing: ADC To The Rescue

Nigeria is living through one of its hardest seasons, a season defined by rampant insecurity, a battered economy, and a federal government that behaves as if crises are mere inconveniences that can be waved away with sound bites.

Anyone paying attention can see that the country is drifting, and those who should steady the ship appear content to watch from the deck.

Across the country, the stories are similar. Commuters disappear on highways, school children are abducted in broad daylight, and rural communities face repeated assaults without timely intervention.

People no longer measure danger by geography; insecurity has turned everywhere into a vulnerable point. The difference between safety and tragedy has become a lottery that no citizen should have to participate in.

What worries most is not only the violence itself, but the government’s tone. There is a casualness in official responses that suggests a leadership insulated from the realities on the ground.
Announcements about emergency measures, rushed recruitments, or new strategies often come long after the damage has been done. The gap between what government says and what Nigerians experience continues to widen, and that gap is now big enough to swallow public confidence entirely.

The economy tells a similar story of strain and official detachment. Families with stable incomes last year now struggle to afford basic food items. Transport costs have soared, schools are hiking fees, and small businesses are bleeding.

Inflation continues to pound households, yet the federal government speaks with the calmness of a leadership that is not living its own policies. Many Nigerians now feel the economy not as an abstract national statistic, but as a daily stress that shapes every decision they make.
It is a painful way to live.

For a country with our talent, energy, and resourcefulness, this moment should feel like a wake up call. Instead, it feels like a slow suffocation.
The ruling party appears more interested in explaining away failure than confronting it. There is no sustained plan, no sense of urgency, and no demonstration that those in power understand what it means for people to lose their sense of security, livelihood, and hope.

But the future does not have to follow this path.
In moments like this, political alternatives matter.
The African Democratic Congress stands out as a platform that still believes in responsible governance, community focused leadership, and reform that touches real lives. Unlike the tired cycle of power retention and political gymnastics that the country is used to, the ADC has consistently positioned itself as a party that listens first, then acts.

Nigeria needs a credible alternative now more than ever, and that means a party that can build trust from the ground up, offer practical solutions, and unite citizens behind a vision that prioritizes human security, economic dignity, and accountability.

The ADC has the structure, the temperament, and the courage to step into that role at a time when the country desperately needs fresh direction.

This is not a call for opposition for opposition’s sake. It is a call for leadership. The kind that looks beyond political convenience and focuses on the lives at stake. If Nigeria is to move out of this dangerous crossroads, it will require a leadership that is ready to do the hard work, challenge entrenched interests, and restore the bond between government and the governed.

As things stand, the nation is crying out for that leadership. The ADC must rise to that responsibility with clarity, boldness, and an unwavering commitment to the Nigerian people.
Our country cannot afford another season of drift. The time for a genuine alternative is now, and the ADC has both the duty and the opportunity to provide it.
