Nnewi Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Ministry of Industry,Anambra State organizes 2025 Nnewi Economic Summit

The Nnewi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NCCIMA) in collaboration with Ministry of Industry,Anambra State has organized Nnewi Economic Summit 2025.

The Summit held on Saturday, 12th of July, 2025 at the Kingdom of Gold Hotel and Suites,Otolo Nnewi in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State had in attendance illustrious sons and daughters of Nnewi home and in diaspora.

Among the dignitaries that graced the Summit themed “Repositioning Nnewi for a Sustainable Economic Development” were: the Obi of Nnewichi, Hìs Highness Obi Onyekaba( Obidiugwu), Commissioner of Industry, Anambra State, Hon. Christian Udechukwu, Honourable Member Representing Nnewi North Constituency, Hon. Augustine Ike, the Executive Local Government Chairman, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, the President General Nzuko-ora Nnewi, Prince Jude Osumuoh, the President Southeast/Southsouth Chamber of Commerce, Industry,Mines and Agriculture, Mr. Humphrey Ngonadi, President NCCIMA, Chief Sir Moses Ezukwo,Dr. Mrs Ngozi Ukachukwu, Engr. Vincent Ejike, the YPP Senatorial Aspirant Prince Samben Nwosu,the APGA Senatorial Aspirant Hon. Pat Ubajaka, the keynote speaker,Engr. Dr. Ndubuisi Okoli,and host of other dignitaries.

The President of NCCIMA,Chief Moses Ezukwo in his welcome address welcomed the attendees and thanked them immensely for honoring their invitation to be part of the landmark event.

He disclosed that this year’s summit was particularly significant not just because of the calibre of participants but because of the urgency and relevance of their chosen theme.

Ezukwo noted that Nnewi is known for entrepreneurial drive, indigenous manufacturing and resourcefulness, adding that Nnewi town has been a hub of innovation, commerce and economic resilience.

He said based on evolving global economic dynamics, climate realities and technological disruption,the need to reexamine their strategies and reposition their economy for the future has come to make Nnewi not just a leading industrial town, but a model for sustainable economic transformation.

“This Summit is an opportunity for dialogue, reflection and forward thinking collaboration. It is a space where Government meets the private sector, innovators connect with investors and where Local solutions meet global standards” he added.

He extended his profound appreciation to all their sponsors, Partners, speakers and organizers who according to him have worked tirelessly to make the event possible.

The Commissioner of Industry, Anambra State, Hon. Christian Udechukwu while speaking during the event congratulated the the Convener for the wonderful summit. He brought the Governor’s greetings, reaffirming the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo’s efforts to actualize a livable and sustainable Anambra through what he called Public Community Partnership aimed at transforming the economy and enhance the growth of industrial sectors in the State.

Udechukwu revealed that Anambra State Government has signed power into law to regulate the power sector, thereby cutting down the price of electricity in Anambra State which would help to boost investors confidence and job erosion.

Furthermore, Udechukwu said that the Governor Soludo has prioritized developing gas pipeline which he said they welcomed from Delta to Anambra and also he prioritized human capital development.

He finally revealed that in public transportation system, Nnewi has produced 70% of that, adding that Nnewi has car manufacturer that has contributed immensely to the growth of modern systems of transportation.

The keynote speaker,Engr. Ndubuisi Okoli spoke on the theme,”Repositioning Nnewi for a sustainable Economic Development”.

He outlined six point development agenda that would unlock the next phase of Nnewi’s industrial and economic growth as; reviving abandoned power infrastructure projects in Nnewi,inclusion of Nnewi in the (NGIC/FGP) Eastern Gas Pipeline Project, development of Nnewi Modern Solutions garage,prioritization of Nnewi in first phase of the Anambra Rail Project, protection and activation of the Federal Automotive Industrial Cluster at Akwa-Ihedi and establishment of advanced human capital development.

Others who spoke during the occasion on the theme were: Obi of Nnewichi, His Highness Obi Onyekaba Obidiugwu, Dr. Mrs Ngozi Ukachukwu( Iyom Ada Ife Nnewi),among others.
