Praises, songs and prayers, as multitudes participated at Songs and Praises organized by Nnewi Community in Abuja for Sen Uba, reports Abba -Eku Onyeka
Songs of Praises organized by Nnewi Indigenes in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) witnessed multitudes of people from all works of life in attendance, who came there to testify the help they got from an illustrious son of the ancient city of Nnewi in anambra State. As a result of that, the premises of Delight Garden, Apo in the FCT, the venue of the event couldn’t contain the people in attendance.
Top government officials, business moguls, politicians, captains of industry, traders, who is who in the ancient community and beyond, among others were there also to testify to the good legacies left behind by Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, the Ebubechukwuzor of Nnewi and Ignoland in general
Among the priests who preached on the need to always follow Christ’s way, for its benefits was Rev. Fr. Chukwunonso Amamchukwu from Suleja Parish in the Catholic Diocese of Minna. Hailing the organizers for effective plans, he reiterated the need for the participants to not relent in their efforts to adhere strictly to the doctrine of Christianity, adding that, total submission to the will of God is the beginning of wisdom and success. He ended by praying for the dead and living.
Speaking on behalf of the four quarters of Nnewi: Otolo, Uruagu, Umudim, and Nnewichi in the FCT was the Abuja President General (PG) of Nnewi Community Meeting (NCM), Sir Godwin Ejezie (Odumbueme), who said: “We have lost a lot in Ubah, because he was an extraordinary person, having touched lives of people from Nnewi and beyond and that is why he is being mourned all over the world.”
According to Prince Orji Nwafor – Orizu: “Death is lighter than feathers and heavier than Mount Olympia, and all depends on how somebody died. The election is coming up to reflect Ubah, l urge us to live everything to God, Who knows it all.
.The death of our illustrious son is a heavy loss to my people not Nnewi and the nation at large.
Similarly, Prince Samben Nwosu, former Federal Commissioner for Public Complaints Commission, said: “I can’t believe that he has died. He has contributed immensely to: the area of security; politics, governance, philanthropy, by coming to the help of people from Nnewi and beyond. Ebubechukwuzor na Nnewi would jump into what Nnewi couldn’t do and do it perfectly. We lost a gem in him. He made many people and built houses for many.”
To a former FCT Nnewi PG, Chiedozie Chukwulobe, who doubles as the CEO, the Doves Resort & Hotel Limited and; Allied Heritage Properties and Estate Limited, Abuja: “Ubah has positively changed lives of many. When I was PG, he visited and gave us N5 million, and gave millions of Naira to many Nigerians, right from Lagos, FCT, Anambra, other parts of Igbo land and Nigeria in general and now they are successful businessmen.”
The Matron, Nnewi Community in the FCT, Lolo Ify Nwogu didn’t hesitate to make a contribution, by saying: “He was a man of the people, by keeping his doors open. He doesn’t discriminate between the rich, poor, male or female. He would listen to you, assist and advise you. He gave us land and money, promised to build the hall for us, but now he has passed on. I advise others to emulate him, for the good of all.”
Another Nnewi PG in the FCT, Arch Ude Ikeotuonye when asked said: “Ubah’s wealth and philanthropy went a long way to help many from Nnewi and beyond. He gave us money, land in Asokoro, ensured that it was built and we named it after him. He gave each quarter of Nnewi in the FCT N1 million in 2012. His help got across and that is why we want what he started not to die.”
However, the Anambra PG, Sir Arinze Anadu who graced the occasion, condoled with the Nnewi and Anambra people. Anadu therefore hailed the good legacy of Ubah, and said that since he has died, God, according to him knows the best.
Participants were entertained with music and dances by the Nnewi women and Igbaeze cultural music and dance by the men.
Recalled that until his death at age 52, Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Ubah was from Umuanukam, Otolo, Nnewi in Anambra State and represented Anambra South Senatorial District at the National Assembly.
