The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) at its retail stations, with the price now reaching ₦955 per litre in Abuja and surrounding areas.

This marks a ₦65 increase from the previous price of ₦890 per litre, sparking concerns among commuters and business owners already grappling with the high cost of living.

According to Tribune Online, a price survey conducted across several NNPCL outlets in the Federal Capital Territory—including Central Business District (CBD), Wuse, Berger, and Nyanya—as well as in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, confirmed that the new pricing has already taken effect.

However, in AYA in Abuja, MRS filling stations sold fuel at N850 earlier in the day while AA Rano, which was a stone’s throw away, was selling at N920.

At Abacha Road in Mararaba suburb, NIPCO pegged its price at N920, as also is Zamson and AYM Shafa filling stations along the ever-busy Abuja-Keffi Expressway.

At the time of filing this report, NNPCL has not released any statement on the increment, but the decision followed an upward review of the ex-depot petrol price by Dangote Refinery to N858 per litre, up from N820
