The Minister of State for Environment, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako has declared that Oando Energy Resources is one of the key partners in achieving clean energy and Net-Zero target by the year 2060.
The Minister disclosed this during an official working visit of Oando Energy Resources Nigeria Limited led by the Managing Director, Ainojie Irune and his entourage to the Ministry in Abuja.
Salako commmended the staff of Oando for the successes recorded over the years as a Company that started off as a small retail business and now moving to an international conglomerate.
According to the, statement by Mrs. Olaseni Alabi, For, Head, Press and Public Relations Unit of the Ministry, Salako further appreciated the Oando for genuinely committed to removing gas flaring within its operations and monitoring emissions from its production.
The Minister disclosed that the key deliverables of his ministry is to scale-up circularity drive, recycling and re-using of plastic to ensure clean energy.
He emphasized that Energy Transition Plan is the major bench mark that involves so many Public sector institutions and urged Oando to collaborate with other corporate organisations to achieve the target of Energy Transition by 2030.
Earlier, the Managing Director Oando Energy Resources Nigeria Limited, Mr. Ainojie Irune, highlighted some of the activities and achievements of the Company in the past few years of starting off as a downstream sector.
Irune said transportation is one of the the largest carbon emitter, emphasizing that the Company is importing electric vehicles to improve the environment and achieve net zero target.
“The commitment to construction of local assembly plant to build solar panel and installation of physical mast thermo energy to reduce the use of diesel are all on the forefront burner of OANDO drive to clean energy” he added.
