Supporters of Mr. Peter Obi, under the aegis of Obidient Movement, Anambra state chapter on Saturday rolled out drums in celebration of the 64th birthday of the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

The cheering supporters who trooped out in large numbers, marched through the popular Nkwo Amenyi, Aroma junction, Ifite Awka Eke Awka market, donating food items, bags of rice, cartons of noodles, biscuits, tomato pastes and drinks to indigents while honouring Obi.

Places visited by the group included Tender Touch Orphanage home, Amenyi-Awka and Model Community Children’s home, Ifite-Awka as well as Awka Central mosque where they were warmly received by the leadership and members of Muslim community who eulogised Mr. Peter Obi, describing him as a detribalised Nigeria.

Presenting the items, a member of Obidients Movement, South East Advisory Council, Dr. Decker Ezeadili said the gesture was to put smile on faces of the innocent children and in fulfillment of Peter Obi’s tradition of celebrating his birthdays with orphans and people with disabilities.

“We are here to celebrate our principal, our legendary leader and icon, Mr. Peter Obi. A man that has given hope to the hopeless in Nigeria. We are here to celebrate his 64th birthday. In line with his wishes, we chose to celebrate his birthday with the less privileged and today we visited opharnag homes to give hope to those little angels.

Speaking further, Comrade Charles Obiora Anueyiagu, one of the collegiate leaders of Obidient Movement in Anambra, noted that Peter Obi’s 64th birthday provided his followers across the country and beyond an opportunity for reflection, inspiration and unwavering hope for Nigeria.

According to him, the decision of Obidient members to visit and donate to orphanage homes was to demonstrate Peter Obi’s love for Nigeria, and his strong desire use the instrument of power to bring a desired liberation. He expressed hope that Nigeria will soar to new heights under a Peter Obi presidency after 2027 general election.

“Peter Obi has natural love for Nigeria and is doing everything in his capacity to see that our decades of suffering ends very soon. That is why we are doing all we can to make sure we have a new Nigeria which we believe is possible.

“We the followers of Peter Obi, the Obidients globally and Nigeria at large wish to show love to the less privileged. What we did in Awka, also took place in all the 36 states of Nigeria including FCT and other countries where Obidients reside because Obi is an icon of democracy and beacon of hope for ordinary Nigerians.

“Our prayer to him is for God to grant him his heart desires of making Nigeria to work again. We strongly believe that with Peter Obi, Nigeria will resurrect again.

“Obidient Movement is a natural movement. We are naturally endowed to salvage this country and we know that with Peter Obi, all the Obidients and people of goodwill that want Nigeria to work again will come together to ensure that we vote because this time, our vote must count. If they don’t count our vote, we count them in. This country must work again” he said.

In their separate speeches, Stella Ezeugwu of Tender Touch Orphanage home, Awka and Grace Ndubisi of Model Community Children’s home, Real Estate, Ifite, Awka showered praises on the leadership and members of Anambra Obidients for remembering them while extending warm regards to Mr. Peter Obi on the joyous moment of his birthday.
