The Director of Sickle Cell Orphanage and underprivileged home in Agulu Mrs. Aisha Edward Maduagwu has empowered fifty individuals including women, youths with cash, starter kits to support their small business and dreams.
The maiden edition of the entrepreneurship and empowerment program was held at Amatutu Community in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
In her address, Anchor and facilitator of Mrs. Aisha Edward Maduagwu, said its a journey towards progress and prosperity.
“The empowerment program is more than just a gesture; it’s a testament to the power of collective effort, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to human capital development.
“We are proud to empower 50 of our own women and youths with cash and equipment, providing them with the tools they need to unlock their potential, pursue their dreams, and contribute to the growth and development of our community. This initiative is a shining example of what can be achieved when we work together towards a common goal.
“To the 50 beneficiaries of this empowerment program, i say, this is a momentous occasion in your lives. The resources you’re receiving today are not just a gift, they’re a catalyst for your dreams. Use them to build, create, innovate, and push the boundaries of what’s possible. Let your success story inspire others, and let your achievements be a beacon of hope for our community.
Former Governor of Anambra State and 2023 Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi in his speech, called for urgent value re-orientation among Nigeria youths, urging those who benefitted from the empowerment to shun the growing get rich quick mentality and embrace hardwork and entrepreneurship.
Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Josephat Ogbuagu and Special Guest of honour, Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna, in their separate remarks advised all those empowered to utilize the tools, equipments and cash given to them judiciously.
President General Agulu Peoples Union, Owelle Oliver Afamefuna, Chairman Amatutu Village Agulu, Mr. Chineta Ibeh and Rev. Pastor William Okoye in their remarks commended Maduagwu for giving back to the society, urging her not to relent in her efforts in improving rural lives and promoting positive values.
Some of the beneficiaries including Doris Nwafor, a hair dresser, Mrs. Chidebele Iloanya, a petty trader, Onyeka Eze a barber and Ifeanyi Okonkwo expressed appreciation to the organizers and pledged to make good use of the support received
