PDP secretary Ude-Okoye

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially confirmed Sunday Ude-Okoye as the authentic National Secretary of the party, ending the prolonged dispute over the position.

The conflict over the National Secretary position had been ongoing between Ude-Okoye and Samuel Anyanwu. The tension began when Anyanwu vacated the position to contest the Imo State Governorship election, which he lost to Governor Hope Uzodinma. During his absence, the South East Stakeholders of the PDP adopted Ude-Okoye as the new Secretary.

Since then, the matter has been embroiled in a legal battle, with Anyanwu challenging Ude-Okoye’s appointment.

However, on December 20, 2024, the Court of Appeal in Enugu ruled in favor of Ude-Okoye, confirming him as the rightful National Secretary.

Following the court’s judgment, the PDP Governors Forum threw their support behind Ude-Okoye, and the BoT also aligned with the Enugu court’s decision, officially recognizing him as the party’s National Secretary.
