Security forces fired tear gas and gunshots on Wednesday, March 26, to disperse rioters on the Kubwa Expressway near Efab Bridge, Abuja.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing protesters setting tyres on fire, causing traffic disruptions in the area. At least one person has reportedly been shot, though the circumstances remain unclear.

“The riot is around Efab Bridge, on Kubwa Expressway. They are burning tyres, and gunshots could be heard, but I don’t know what caused the issue,” an eyewitness said.

Meanwhile, the police have confirmed the development. The spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said of the incident, “I heard about it, and we have deployed officers to the area. I will get the details when they are back.”

Authorities have urged commuters to avoid the area as security personnel work to restore order.
