Tinubu presenting Budget appropriation to the NASS

President Bola Tinubu has requested an upward review of the 2025 Appropriation Bill, increasing the proposed budget from N49.7 trillion to N54.2 trillion.

The request was made in a letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, which was read during Wednesday’s plenary session.

The original budget proposal of N49.7 trillion was presented to a joint session of the National Assembly on December 18, 2024.

However, the President explained in his letter that the revised figure reflects an additional N1.4 trillion in revenue generated by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), N1.2 trillion from the Nigeria Customs Service, and N1.8 trillion from other Government-Owned Agencies.

Following the reading of the letter, the President of the Senate directed the Committee on Appropriations to consider the request promptly. He assured that the budget review process would be completed and passed before the end of February.
