The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kaduna has confirmed a tragic road accident on the Kaduna-Abuja expressway that resulted in the deaths of 13 individuals on Friday.

The incident was reported by FRSC Kaduna Sector Commander, Kabir Nadabo, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna.

Details surrounding the cause of the crash have not yet been disclosed. The FRSC continues to investigate and urges drivers to exercise caution, especially on busy highways like the Kaduna-Abuja route, known for its high traffic and accident risks.

Nadabo said, “The road traffic crash occurred near Olam farm on Kaduna-Abuja highway about 3p.m.m when Toyota Hiace marked GTG 96YA carrying 11 persons collided with a Golf Salon marked RBC 369XE with five passengers.

He said those who died had been moved to St.Gerards Hospital, while three who survived were immediately conveyed to AP Smart Hospital, Kakuri for further treatment.

“As we enter the ember season fully, motorists are reminded on the need to adhere to basic safety ethics while travelling, “he said.

He said it was imperative to also remind motorists that excessive speeding was dangerous. He urged drivers to always maintain the requisite speed limits while on transit.

“FRSC is committed to ensuring the roads are safe for all users.

“Corps extends its sincere gratitude to the Kaduna State Government for the continuous support in FRSC activities, “Nadabo said.
