Venerable Ephraim Akanya, Sub Dean, the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Life Camp, Abuja, has emphasized the importance of unity among the people of Anambra State. In an interview at the yearly thanksgiving ceremony of the Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of Anambra State Towns People Association (ASTPA), Akanya stressed that unity is strength and that when people come together, they can achieve more.

He acknowledged that denominationalism has been a strong force in Anambra, often putting Catholics and Anglicans against each other. However, Akanya encouraged the people of Anambra to look beyond their denominational differences and work together towards the prosperity of their state. He emphasized that when Anambra prospers, the entire Southeast region and Nigeria as a whole benefit.

Akanya praised the attendees of the thanksgiving ceremony for coming together as one, despite their denominational differences. He urged them to remain united in their faith and to continue praying for the prosperity of Anambra State. He expressed his hope that Anambra will become a model for other states to emulate, with God’s blessings and the leadership of their governor.

Chief Arinze Anadu, President General of the Anambra State Council, Association, Diaspora, has highlighted the importance of unity among Anambra people during the association’s annual thanksgiving service. The event, held at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Lifecamp, Abuja, brought together Anambra indigenes from various parts of the world.

According to Chief Anadu, the thanksgiving service is a tradition where members come together to express gratitude to God for the past year and pray for a prosperous new year. He emphasized the need for unity, citing the dean’s advice that Anambra people should strive to be united in heart and spirit.

To achieve unity, Chief Anadu revealed that the association is working to foster closer relationships among its members. He expressed optimism that these efforts are yielding positive results. The association’s emphasis on unity is particularly significant, given the historical context of Anambra State and the importance of communal harmony in Igbo culture.

“As we move forward in 2025, my advice is to cultivate love within ourselves. Beyond the preaching, it’s essential for humans to embody love. When we have love, we can treat our fellow human beings with kindness and compassion, recognizing our shared humanity, Anadu stated”
