By Prince Mark Elayo, (Tuakin Keana)
By assenting to the North-Central Development Commission (NCDC) Bill 2024, President Bola Tinubu has given the people of the region a good reason to cheer up.
This is indeed a foundation for the much desired speedy development in the North Central region. It is a foundation for sustainable development for us.
As a people who have suffered a long time despoliation by banditry and sectarian conflicts, we had earnestly looked forward to this commission for reconstruction like the North East.
Now with NCDC, our people, especially at the grassroots will experience a Renewed Hope and the next generation will have a positive story to tell.
NCDC affords us opportunity to tackle our infrastructure, security and economic problems.
It is therefore, now time for the people of the North Central region to level up with other regions of the country.
I believe our people are more than prepared to grab and use this opportunity for their own good and the good of the country as a whole.
We will rise up, come together and work collectively for the commission to effectively and efficiently serve our common interest.
This action by the president is another demonstration and a loud testament that he is committed to the welfare of all Nigerians. We as a people should reciprocate this by playing our own part diligently and well.
I charge us to quickly put heads together and decide on where the headquarters of the commission will be. This decision should not be merely borne out of politics but factors like geography that will enable all the member states feel a true sense of belonging.
Finally, I would like to appreciate our leaders, especially the governors and lawmakers of the North Central region who worked tirelessly for the realisation of this dream.
