There are indications that the camp of former House of Representatives Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, which recently embarked on a mass resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo state may fuse into the Labour Party (LP)
Though reports earlier had it that LP was not ready to receive Ihedioha and his group following his comments in Ghana, against it’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, sources claim that he may have began a process to seek forgiveness from the LP leader so as a receive a soft landing to the party
Ihedioha had while speaking as a guest at a new yam festival of ndi Igbo at Accra, Ghana, described supporters of Peter Obi as ‘saboteurs”
The comment however attracted a lot criticism on him, leading to his later making a public apology to his critics
To actualize this, it was further gathered that Ihedioha visited Governor Alex Otti of Abia State at his Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South residence on Sunday.
Gov. Otti, who is the only Labour Party governor in the South East and country as well was said to have received the former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives and his team warmly, before they retired into a closed door discussion
Though the agenda of their meeting was not disclosed, but sources claim that it might not be unconnected with the political developments in Imo State, and the possibilities of the formerdeouty speaker leading his team and supporters to join the Labour Party.
