Factual Reportage

Popular singer Cynthia Morgan has reportedly been arrested by operatives of the Edo State Police Command for alleged cyberstalking of Benin’s crown prince, Ezelekhae Ewuare.

According to reports, Morgan was apprehended on Monday after being accused of cyberstalking the prince since 2020, making claims of him appearing in her dreams.

The arrest was made known in an Instagram post by an Edo-based blogger, @Edopride, who shared a video of Morgan being escorted into a car from her house.

The arrest came after the prince sent a petition to the State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye, titled, “Defamation, cyberstalking and harassment of Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare by Cynthia Ikponmwenosa Morgan” dated May 4, 2024.

In the petition, the prince accused Morgan of desperately trying to contact him against his wish, physically trailing him to his workplace, and publishing defamatory statements against him on her Instagram story.

Despite warnings, Morgan allegedly continued to harass and stalk the prince online, prompting his decision to seek legal action.

The prince emphasized his right to privacy and expressed his desire to be left alone from Morgan’s actions.

However, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Chidi Nwabuzor, stated that he couldn’t confirm the arrest as he has not been briefed on the matter.
