Nnewi community in Nnewi North Local Government Area,Anambra State had on Sunday, 19th May 2024 re-elected the former Transition chairman, Engr. Chris Obiora .

It must be noted that Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo had relieved all 21 local government transition committee chairmen of their duties.

In attendance were: Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Tony Muodelo,Commissioner for commerce and industry, Dr Christian Udechukwu, Mr Humphrey Ngonadi,Uruagu President General, Mr Innocent Okoli,Obejirinasaa,APGA observers and other stakeholders.

Commissioner, Udechukwu on behalf of the Governor, said the nomination would be done orderly and fairly.
He highlighted the position to be nominated as recommended by the Governor ;the position of chairman/ chairperson transition committees and LGA Education Secretaries.

He further advised the people to take the outcome of the meeting in good faith.

Speaking with the journalists, Engr Obiora who out of eighty Stakeholders present at meeting, sixty five supported his continuation expressed his joy with the people’s acceptance.

He described the selection as remarkable, wonderful, peaceful.
Obiora promised to transform Nnewi to thriving urban city.

“As we await Governor’ approval, I promise to transform Nnewi North in terms of education,health, infrastructure “he said.

He said that he would partner with Stakeholders and public private community partnerships (PPCP) to maintain infrastructure, according to him Nnewi remained industrial and big town.

Engr Obiora promised to “renovate and equip health centers,improve schools by employing teachers and making sure that students get good grades”

Highlights of the event included nomination for the position of education Secretary which after the selection Lady Joy Ulasi got 9 votes, Lady Chika Enumah got 27 votes,Lady Uzoewulu Ifeoma got 18 votes while lady Etel Ileka got 18 votes.
The nominated person were Lady Chika,Lady Ifeoma and Lady Etel.
