The National Chairman of Labour Party Julius Adure has been re-elected during the party’s national convention held on 27th March ,2023 at Grand Seasons Hotel, Nnewi.

It must be noted that some weeks ago,the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC)demanded for the national chairman resignation and immediate constitution of a Caretaker Transition Committee to organize a legitimate and national convention for the party.

Adure who was declared winner by Abia State deputy Governor, Mr Ikechukwu Emetu expressed his gratitude for been re-elected and promised to discharge his duties in accordance to the newly amended constitution.

Speaking with the journalists,he commended the efforts of the members of party,who supported him and found him worthy again.

“Unity is what we need to grow the party and I assure you my undiluted dedication and willingness to propel the party to a forefront,” he said.

“Labour party stands for equality and
social Justice.With this the voices of the minorities in the society must be heard, ” he added.

In his remarks, Ceekay Igala,the newly elected South East Zonal Chairman stated the vision of LP which he enumerated as ” serving Nigeria, defending the voiceless, promoting peaceful coexistence “

He noted that the election went well and the constitution was amended which was accepted by all the committees.

Ceekay affirmed that all these were achieved and he promised Nigerians to expect progress.

High Chief Rotimi Kehinde deputy national secretary LP said that the party’s resolution was all about peace and unity. He revealed that peace was prevailed because the just concluded election was free and fair and the outcome was accepted by the committee members without grudges.

He said that Labour party had produced a strong Governor in Abia State in the person Dr Alex Oti and He continued by saying that Oti has transformed Abia State that showed that LP has capable candidates.

Others who spoke during the convention Prince Okey Kanu Hon. Commissioner for Information and Culture Abia State, Ogbalor Kelly,Chairman LP Edo State, Hon. Abdurrahman Iman Chindo,Sokoto State Chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Abu Musawa,Chairman LP Katsina and 4 times gubernatorial candidate and others said that the LP was a strong party and they continued by saying that the Party through this national convention had became stronger.

“We are together and together we are going to achieve success,that’s why we elected national working Committee for another four years tenure, “they said.
