Adamawa state has confirmed the outbreak of measles which killed 42 children out of 208 affected persons in the state.
The state government also put 20 out of 21 local government areas, with the exception of Lamurde local government, on red alert.
The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Felix Tangwami, confirmed this while briefing journalists after the state executive council meeting held on Friday at the Council Chamber at the Government House, Yola.
The commissioner said the outbreak was recorded in eight wards of Mubi North local government and seven wards of Gombi local government out of the 133 and 177 people affected so far.
He said the administration was not leaving anything to chance, adding that it was on top of the situation.
He said the state government had reactivated the emergency response team with a committee that was meeting after every two days to receive reports from disease surveillance teams in the field.
Tangwami further added that there were confirming sporadic cases in 18 local government areas with cases ranging from 10 downwards.
The commissioner said further that measles vaccines had been deployed to affected areas and that their field teams were containing the situation.
He added that upon receiving the report, the ministry swung into action to nip it in the bud and called on the people of the state to take cautionary measures against the disease.
