Not fewer than four students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, have been reportedly killed following a stampede while struggling to loot bags of rice that were said to have been provided to the school as palliative by the state government.

The students were said to have overwhelmed the security and allegedly broken into the warehouse where the food items were kept to be distributed Friday morning

It was gathered that some students billed to benefit from the Nasarawa state government palliative were issued I.D cards to admit them into the venue where the distribution was to take place.

It was also gathered that as early as 5 a.m., students had already taken over the arena, overpowered the security, and broke into the warehouse, resulting in the stampede.

It will be recalled that similar palliatives have been distributed by the state government to other tertiary institutions in the state, including Federal University Lafia, College of Agriculture , Science and technology, Lafia and College of Education Akwanga.

What would have been the turn of the Nasarawa State University to partake in the distribution on Friday, however turned out negatively as the students overpowered the securities , leading to stampede and the death of four

The management of the university is yet to comment on the ugly situation that greeted the institution.
