***As Anas Yusuf wins Pro Sports MOTN award

Nasarawa United football club of Lafia has maintained it’s impressive record at the ongoing Nigerian National League (NNL) promotion Super 8 championship at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium (The Cathedral) in Enugu

The solid Miners, which won the championship’s opening match against El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri  with a slim 1-0 victory on Saturday came from behind to record a win over Sokoto United at the third match of the day two of the championship

Sokoto United took a surprise lead at the early minutes of the first half, when Nasarawa United s defence line went flat, leaving striker Adama Kizito roam as he slammed the ball beyond goalkeeper

But the Solid Miners woke up immediately after the goal and took over control of the pitch, resulting in their equalizer through Anas Yusuf, who was eventually awarded the games Man of the Match

Nasarawa United however sealed the three points beyond Sokoto United, when Umar Ibrahim netted the winner during the second half of the game.

The victory over the Caliphates has punctured their quest for the Nigerian  Premier Football League, as they have recorded two consecutive losses, after loosing to Sporting Supreme of Abuja in their first game

The victory however signals a possible return to the elite league by Nasarawa United, who are only one game against Sporting Supreme) to seal a return to the slot they last after facing relegation at the end of the 2023 NPFL season

Nasarawa United attacker and scorer of their equalizing goal, Anas Yusuf was unanimously awarded the Man of The Match as he was handed the Pro Sports sponsored trophy by the NNL Chsirman George Aluo
