Amid speculations of a possible merger ahead of the 2027 elections, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, met with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido in Abuja on Monday.

Abubakar, was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections,

Announcing the meeting in a post on his official X handlee, an elated Atiku wrote; “It was my honour and privilege to host @PeterObi today. -AA,” Atiku wrote.

The meeting was the first between the two politicians since the end of the general elections in 2023

Also, Obi paid a similar visit to Sule Lamido, former governor of Jigawa, at his residence in Abuja.

Lamido was governor of Jigawa from 2007 to 2015.

The details of the meeting were however not immediately known.

Recall that Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi ran a combined ticket under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), during the 2019 presidential election.

Obi however left the PDP and picked the Labour Party (LP) presidential ticket during the 2023 general elections following some disagreement before the PDP presidential primary election
