The Transition Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Engr. Chris Obiora with some of the committee members had on March 23rd 2023, paid a visit to the erosion control project at Obiuno cum Egbu Umuenem, Otolo Nnewi along Ekeochie junction.
The project which was sponsored by a group of patriotic illustrious sons of Obiuno and Egbu community was estimated to cost 200m Naria.
However, Engr. Chris and his team were taken round the project which was almost 80%completed by the contractor handling the project.
Speaking, Engr.Chris Obiora described the project as a step in the right direction towards helping the government in the overall development of the State.
Obiora commended those who sponsored the project and thanked the state Governor Prof. Soludo for making it possible for something to happen in the State.
“I assure the people that the state and local government will continue to support and partner with those that desire to contribute in any way to the development of the state on my capacity, “he added.
Bobby Okwuosa ,the Chief Executive Officer of Fancee Construction Company (FCC)in his remarks disclosed that they have been able to control the erosion and channel it to the proper place and gutters were almost ready.
He continued to say that in due course they would join it across the already existing big tunnel in the other side of the road.
One of the Stakeholders, Chief Eugene Nwaezìgbe (Anyanwu Igbo)thanked the TC chairman for the visit and continued to appeal to him to inform the state Governor that there are so many other erosion sites and roads in the area that need urgent attention.
