Tinubu appoints chairmen of 42 federal agencies, MD of others

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of chairpersons for 42 federal organizations, as well as a Secretary for the Board of the Civil Defence, Immigration, and Prisons Services.

The announcement was made in a statement on Friday in Abuja by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

In addition to these appointments, Tinubu has named a new Managing Director for the Nigerian Railway Corporation and a Director-General for the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI).

According to Onanuga, the president instructed the newly appointed board chairpersons to refrain from interfering in the management of their respective organizations, emphasizing that their roles are non-executive. He stated that all appointments are effective immediately.

Among the key appointees are Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano) who will serve as Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The list includes Mr. Hillard Eta from Cross River, who has been named Chairman of the National Youth Service Corps, while Professor Bolaji Akinyemi from Lagos is now the Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs.

Senator Surajudeen Ajibola (Osun) has been appointed Chairman of the National Sugar Development Council.

Senator Magnus Abe (Rivers) has been named Chairman of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall, and Alhaji Sulaiman Argungu (Kebbi) is now the Chairman of the Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading Company.

Other appointees include Mr. Festus Fuanter (Plateau) as Chairman of the National Teachers Institute, Mr. Raji Kolawole (Oyo) as Director-General of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), and Chief Victor Giadom (Rivers) as Chairman of the Nigeria Institute of Education Planning and Administration.

Additionally, Mustapha Salihu (Adamawa) has been named Chairman of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, and Mr. Hamma Kumo (Gombe) is now Chairman of the Industrial Training Fund.

Donatus Nwankpa (Abia) has been appointed Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Science and Technology Complex, while Senator Abubakar Maikafi (Bauchi) will serve as Chairman of the Sheda Science and Technology Complex.

Further appointments include Nasiru Gawuna (Kano) as Chairman of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi (Lagos) as Chairman of the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion, and Professor Abdulkarim Kana (Nasarawa) as Chairman of the National Steel Council.

Onanuga also announced that Musa Adar (Sokoto) will serve as Chairman of the National Inland Waterways Authority, while Malam Garba Muhammad (Kaduna) has been named Chairman of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency.

Other appointments cover leadership roles in agencies such as the National Bio-Safety Management Agency, the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute, the Federal Teaching Hospital in Gombe, and the Nigeria Railway Corporation.
