Havre returns to Ivory Coast
Former Cote d’Ivoire coach, Renard Havre has rejoined the team he left in 2015
His return followed the sacking of former coach, Emerse Fae by the football federation, after the Elephant’s exit at the roundabout of 32 stage of the 2026 World cup
The Ivorians were eliminated 2-1 by Norway in the last 32 at the World Cup and opted not to renew the contract of Emerse Fae, which expired at the end of last month.
Fae, a former Nantes and Reading midfielder, had taken over midway through the 2023 AFCON after the Elephants failed in an earlier bid to reappoint Renard, going on to guide the hosts to an unlikely title triumph through a dramatic run in the knockout stage.
Since leaving Ivory Coast in May 2015, Renard has had spells with Morocco, Saudi Arabia on two occasions, and France’s women’s team, and was also in the dugout for Tunisia during two games at this year’s World Cup.

Transfer: Ruud Gullit picks EPL’s ‘best signing of the summer’
Former Chelsea midfielder, Ruud Gullit, believes that England international, Marcus Rashford’s return to Manchester United could be the best Premier League signing of the summer.
Rashford recently returned to Manchester United after his loan spell at Barcelona ended.
Barcelona were expected to make the 28-year-old’s loan deal permanent in a £26million deal.
But the LaLiga champions ended up signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United and didn’t sign Rashford permanently.
Rashford has already joined up with Michael Carrick’s side at pre-season training after his World Cup break ended.
Speaking to Sport Witness, Gullit said, “Marcus Rashford could end up being the best signing.
“He learned a lot at Barcelona and played much better, with far more freedom, than he ever did at Manchester United.”
